Bodyweight Standing Calf Raise

- Target
- Calves
Calves respond to almost nothing but direct, repeated loading, and the standing calf raise is the simplest way to give them that — rise onto the toes, pause, lower under control, repeat. Doing it with just bodyweight is usually a starting point rather than an endpoint, since calves tend to need real volume and load over time to grow. A slow lowering phase does more here than speed ever will.
How to Do the Bodyweight Standing Calf Raise
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointing forward.
- Place your hands on a wall or stable surface for balance.
- Slowly raise your heels off the ground, lifting your body weight onto the balls of your feet.
- Pause for a moment at the top, then slowly lower your heels back down to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
