Dumbbell Seated Curl
- Category
- Upper Arms
- Equipment
- Dumbbell
- Target
- Biceps
Sitting down for a dumbbell curl takes the legs and lower back out of the movement entirely, so there's no leaning back to sling the weight up. That isolation makes it a good gut-check on real bicep strength versus the momentum that creeps into standing curls. Keep the shoulders pinned to the bench and let the elbow do all the work.
How to Do the Dumbbell Seated Curl
- Sit on a bench with your feet flat on the ground and a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing forward.
- Keep your back straight and your elbows close to your torso.
- Exhale and curl the dumbbells up towards your shoulders, contracting your biceps.
- Pause for a moment at the top, then inhale and slowly lower the dumbbells back down to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
