Barbell Drag Curl

- Biceps
The drag curl keeps the bar close to the body throughout the lift, dragging it up along the torso instead of arcing it away like a standard curl. That path removes front delt involvement almost entirely and keeps tension locked on the biceps. It feels awkward at first since it fights the natural curl arc, but it's one of the more effective ways to isolate the biceps with a barbell.
How to Do the Barbell Drag Curl
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a barbell with an underhand grip, palms facing up.
- Let the barbell hang at arm's length in front of your thighs.
- Keeping your upper arms stationary, curl the barbell up towards your chest by contracting your biceps.
- Pause for a moment at the top, then slowly lower the barbell back down to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
