Exercise 0985 · REF 225x2Vd
Kneeling twisting crunches add a rotational element to a standard crunch, bringing the obliques into a movement that's usually pure rectus abdominis work. The kneeling position with band resistance also removes the ability to use leg momentum, which floor crunches sometimes allow. Rotate from the ribs rather than just the shoulders to actually load the obliques.
How to Do the Band Kneeling Twisting Crunch
- Attach the band to a sturdy anchor point at waist height.
- Kneel down facing away from the anchor point and hold the band with both hands, keeping your elbows bent and close to your sides.
- Engage your abs and slowly twist your torso to one side, bringing your hands towards your opposite hip.
- Pause for a moment, then slowly return to the starting position.
- Repeat on the other side.
- Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions.
